OUR CHRISTMAS EVE
We celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with friends. We have planned this event for a long time and so happy that we did. This year we celebrated it at our place in Loviisa. So lucky we got home from the hospital on the 24th of December in time for the celebration.
We were lucky to be discharged from the hospital on December 24th afternoon. I really want to spend Christmas Eve at home so we tried our best to have everything done and cleared to be home. We asked the hospital staff to do all the baby’s tests on that day so we could go home after.
Every Christmas we celebrated it with my two close friends. The last Christmas 2017 we were in Vantaa and this year we did it at our home in Lovisa. I was only 2 days postpartum and though I wanted to rest and have time for my family, I didn’t cancel our plans. My friends came and they do all the food cooking and preparation. I feel a little bad for not a big help on that day. But they understand I just gave birth and I had a lot of pain.
It was really nice. My friends made food and then we had a lovely family dinner after.
SANTA’S VISIT AND EXCHANGING OF GIFTS
It was also planned to have a Santa Claus visit. For the kids to have fun and a great surprise. We locked the kids in the room for a while for them not to notice that Santa is actually a family member. :). Then they heard a knocked on the door and was excited to open and saw Santa Claus. All the kids laugh and thought that they knew Santa Claus. Well, yes they know Santa of course but we cannot admit that. It was so funny!
Santa gave all the presents to the kids and adults. Everyone was happy. All the kids got a lot of presents and they all seemed happy. They were all excited to open their presents.
It was a lovely Christmas celebration with my friends. They are my family here in Finland. Next year will surely do it again. And I hope we continue this tradition every year. And about Santa, we will see. The kids start to realize how real this Santa is. However, it was really nice to see their faces and reaction as Santa Claus entered the house. :)
