Organizing The Baby’s Clothes

ORGANIZING THE BABY’S CLOTHES IN THE DRESSER

Organizing the baby’s clothes is not a difficult task. As long as you know what you want and what works for you. Putting baby’s clothes in the dresser is the best idea for organizing the baby’s clothes. Because the dresser has many compartments and you are free to put clothes according to sizes and seasons.

As you noticed in the baby nursery post, we don’t use a separate changing table. Instead, we are using a dresser as a changing table as well. This way we can save space and clutter. After all changing tables are only necessary during the newborn days. We have a separate changing area in the bathroom and I think it’s easier to change a diaper in the bathroom especially if you wash the baby with water and not just using baby wipes. So we put a changing pad on top of the dresser as well as a few diapers, sanitizer, wipes and lotion. It’s clean and organized that way. At least for me, as I don’t like so many things and clutter around the room.

We use two MALM dressers from IKEA. I chose 2 malm 3 compartments because a small dresser is easier to move around than the big ones. I am thinking already when we are moving apartments again. Anyway, 2 malm dressers are enough to put all the baby’s needs and clothes. The best way to organize baby clothes is to separate them according to sizes and seasons. Separate the onesies, pants, leggings, pajamas and so on and so forth. This way, dressing a baby and picking up outfits is easier.

What’s In The First Dresser:

The first dresser basically consists of basic needs. Diapers on top, winter wear in the second and linens and towels in the third drawer.

Top Drawer:

Basic Necessities such as:

Diapers
Burp Cloths
Small Towels
Swaddles
Baby’s headbands
Cotton Buds

Nail cutter, hairbrush, lotion, thermometer, etc.
Other small things: extra pacifiers, garbage plastic bags, nursing pads, etc.

Second Drawer:

All winter clothes such as thick jackets that babywear aside from the winter suit.

Winter Hats
Shoes (not so many shoes as I have not found where I put Yanna’s baby shoes.)

Winter suits are hanging in a separate closet

Third Drawer:

Bedsheets
Blankets
Towels
Changing pad covers
Blanket Covers
Pillow Cases

What’s In The Second Dresser:

In the second dresser goes all the baby’s clothes. This is a winter baby so most of her clothes are onesies and pants. Also, a lot of pajamas to wear during sleeping time.

Top Drawer

The top drawer consists of all the size of 56 baby clothes. We don’t know how big the baby will be when she’s born. She’s probably escaping the size 56, but we never know. But it’s all there ready for use.

Tops
Long sleeve Onesies
Pants
Pajamas
Tights
Socks
Mittens
Hats
Bibs

Second Drawer

In the second drawer goes all baby clothes sizes 62. When the baby grows up size 56 she can then use clothes sizes 62.

Third Drawer

In the third drawer goes all baby clothes sizes 68. It may take a while probably before the baby can wear sizes 68 but it’s better to be there already ready.

So, that’s how I organized the baby’s clothes. It’s not really that complicated. Also, all the baby’s dresses are hanging in a separate closet. And also the winter suits. Extra diapers and baby wipes are also hidden in the closet where the dresses and winter suits are.

All clothes sizes 74 and up are hidden in the box. I will wash and sort them out when baby is probably 4-6 months. We will see how fast the baby grows and what sizes of clothes she needs.
