MERIPÄIVÄ IN KOTKA WITH FRIENDS

It is a time of the year again. The most awaited big event in Kotka called “Meripäivä”. It is also part of our friend’s meetup plan. We all want to attend meripäivä and do the meetup as well. It was such a lovely weekend and so glad to do some catching up with my besties.

I thought were not gonna make it this year because we all are busy and tired. But last-minute everyone has decided to come and stay overnight in Kotka. We went on Saturday late afternoon. My friend who just arrived on a holiday in the Philippines was one of the reasons we came. We have not seen each other for quite a while. It was nice to meet everyone again. Not to mention, to eat Filipino local fruits and foods.

We all walked to the event area. As usual, people are everywhere. Meripäivä seems a big event every summer. People from around Finland came to celebrate. You can see a lot of people gather in the park having a picnic with some snacks, beers, and music. Everyone is having fun. We also went to Tivoli where kids had fun with the rides. Just like the meripäivä last year, the Tivoli has a lot of fun rides for kids as well.

It was a very hot weekend though. The temperature was 32’c on Saturday and Sunday. It was really hot during the day and actually gave me a headache. It is quite unusual to have this kind of weather in Finland during the summer. Even though there was still an event on Sunday we decided to just stay home and rest. We came back home on Sunday in the evening. It was a lovely weekend with friends.
