Easter Weekend + Birthday Party

A Birthday Party and Friend’s Meetup

It was a lovely Easter weekend. We were in Vantaa meeting close friends and celebrating a birthday party. On Sunday morning we had a fun Easter egg hunting with the kids. It was such a lovely weekend meeting old and new friends. Eating good food and a nonstop conversation with friends. However, there was an unforgettable story on Friday morning. More on that below this post.

Nothing can stop us from a fun weekend planned a weeks before. We traveled to Helsinki/Vantaa and stayed there for two nights. It was my friend’s daughter’s 12th birthday celebration. We made food on Friday evening and Saturday morning. It was such a lovely day. I got to meet new friends and of course meeting my close friends and kids.

Yanna was also very excited to see her friends although her best friend didn’t make it come. It makes me sad because she was so excited to see her and always asking when is she coming. It was hard to explain. But thankfully, she came on Sunday in Loviisa, so Yanna was very happy and the two played and giggled nonstop.

It is really good not to always meet your friends because it is always exciting when you meet them again after a long time of not seeing them. In my case, I can only count my friends in Finland. I have only a few and I don’t see or talk to them often but I know in my heart that they are my friends. I trust them and I know they will always be there every time I need them.

FOOD FOOD FOOD. It is always fun to make foods with friends. When we have a birthday party here in Vantaa, we always have a lot of food. My friend Vanessa makes good food and so hard to say no. We were “vegetarian” since April 1st, and this weekend we cheated. So hard to skip meat this time and the food looks really good. :) I know not an excuse. But isn’t it healthy to cheat diet sometimes? I mean, who can say no to fried chicken, spring rolls, siomai, pancit and pork meat? Until we meet again. Now, we are back to “no meat” diet.

Good Friday Accident At Work

I remember I was so excited to finish my work on Friday, April 19th (Good Friday). The plan was we go to Helsinki right after my work to visit my friends and help her prepare for her daughter’s birthday party on Saturday. The morning was great. I walked to work happy and had a lot of energy. Didn’t I know that it was the morning I would never forget? It was a normal morning at work. There was water on top of the oven and was a little bit dirty there, so after taking porridge to the resident, I put it aside and took papers and started wiping the mess. (when you want everything clean).

All of a sudden I noticed that I hit my thumb somewhere and I thought it was nothing. I always hit my hand or fingers and have a small wound. But I noticed that there was a lot of blood and I was shocked as soon as I saw my thumb. The wound was so deep and bleeding so bad. I tried to wipe with papers and show the wound to my co-workers which right away told me this cannot be fixed with a normal bandage. I need to go to the hospital quick and have it stitch. So yeah, at 8 AM I called home asked to pick me up from work and bring me to the next town’s hospital.

I hit my thumb on the oven led edge which was broken (glass). I had a nightmare every time I go to bed I remember what happened and makes me feel like I vomit. So yeah, I spent my Good Friday morning at the hospital and had my wound stitch. The doctor gave me one-week sick leave. You see, I had a surgery last month and one-week sick leave and here I am now another incident. Well, I am happy this is just a small accident. It could be worse. But honestly, this is the biggest wound I ever had in my entire life.
