Midsummer Weekend In Stockholm
We were going back and fort deciding whether we will continue on this trip or not. We booked the bus ticket really late and it costs almost the same price as the cruise trip from Helsinki to Stockholm. But it was a midsummer weekend and, we didn’t have any plans at all for that weekend. It is very seldom for me to have three days straight free from work. So let’s just say I wanted to grab this opportunity to go somewhere. If only I have enough time and money, I’d rather travel the world than to stay in one place. But this is a reality. You have money, you don’t have time. You have the time and you don’t have money. Anyway, we pursued this trip and it was a good decision. We had so much fun.
It was my first time to visit Turku, and the first time on board the biggest ship called Viking Grace. The reason why I was so excited about this trip and didn’t want to cancel it even if I knew we are going to spend a lot. It’s just money, anyway. That’s why we work hard to earn money and to enjoy life. Do what makes us happy. Money comes and goes. Experiences live with you the rest of your life. The travel bug is biting me right now. And honestly, I cannot wait for that one week trip waiting ahead of me. Two more weeks!!!!
We arrived in Stockholm early morning on Saturday, midsummer day! The weather wasn’t so nice. We waited until the rain stops before we went out from the port. We went straight to Gamla Stan. We wanted to visit a few places but the weather wasn’t so nice that day, so we decided to spend the day only in old town. The city was quiet. It was a midsummer day. All the Swedes spending the weekend on their cabins. And guess what who took over the city? TOURISTSSSS!!! A lot of them! I couldn’t count how many tourist groups there was on that day. Actually, 95% of the cruise ship passengers were Asian tourists. I couldn’t pick the wrong date to cruise, lol!
The sun decided to show up in late afternoon. It was nice. We walked around, watched the changing of the guards’ parade, enjoyed the view, visit the palace, museum, etc. Stockholm is such a beautiful city. We come here every year and every time surprises me with amazing views and warm people. Sat on the bench, laughing, counting the tourists who pass by. And most importantly just enjoying the time being there. It was a beautiful day!
