VAPUNPÄIVÄ / MAY DAY
Happy first day of May dear friends! Hard to believe we are now almost half the year of 2017. Time flies! Anyway, today we celebrate Vappu in Finland. Vappu means May Day or Labor Day in other countries. It’s holiday and is a big day here in Finland. The weather today is sunny and warm (although it was snowing hard the other day). Thankfully snow are gone, its sunny and so perfect to spend time outside. Since I don’t have work today, I decided to travel to another town for Yanna to see big balloons and for us to check the markets also. There were so many people there and we managed to watch this ceremony where they put a white hat (aka pilot hat) on Runeberg statue’s head. There were singers and so many people around. Almost people are wearing this white pilot hat to celebrate the day. Young girls have colors and paints on their hair and skin and it looks nice.
As promised, I bought Rianna a big balloon, and though it cost 15 euros it was worth it because she was very happy with it. We were walking around while she was holding her giant balloon which I know kind of annoying to other people. But you know kids. It makes them happy. It was nice to see some old friends and classmates I have not seen for so long. Also, I’ve met my teacher and it was nice to have a short chitchat with her. And yes thanks to her for all the motivation and help. Now I got what I prayed for, a school and a job. Life is good!
I intended to bring the DSLR camera with me to take photos while we’re there. It has been a while since the last time I took photos outside. And now that Spring is here it’s time to use the big camera again. Here are all the photos I’ve taken today. Happy Labor Day to all!
