A Day In Tallinn, Estonia

A DAY IN TALLINN, ESTONIA

I have been living in Finland for over six years now, and I haven’t been visited Tallinn, despite how near it is from Finland and how easy to go there by ship. Well, I admit that I have been planning quite a few times going there with family or friends but wasn’t until recently that I decided it is about time.

This trip was the most unplanned trip I ever had. I booked the ferry tickets on Friday evening for Saturday trip. Basically paid the trip hours before departure (less than 24 hours). It was worth it! After checking the schedule, the bus from Loviisa to Helsinki and back. What time we arrive in Helsinki whether we can make it catch the ferry on time and what time we come back and the bus going back to Loviisa. I chose the 8AM ferry over the 11:30. The earlier the better. We could go home later in the day earlier. We took the 8:00 ferry going there and the 15:30 going back. It was enough time to explore Tallinn.

In the evening, I told Rianna that we will sleep few hours and to wake up early for an adventure trip. I don’t know what she was thinking, but mentioning about buses and ships, she got so excited. She loves those rides. :) I woke up 4:30 and we left the house 5:20 to catch the bus at 5:40. We arrived in Helsinki at 7:15. We then took a taxi to the Viking Line pier and by 7:30 we were there. We checked in right away and a few minutes later it was time to board. I was so hesitant, I really thought we couldn’t make it. But we did!

The ship departed at 8:00 and we arrived in Tallinn at 9:45. Yes, that quick we arrive there. In less than two hours. It’s like you’re going to the next town. This is the view you can see as soon as we are out from the ship. We just followed other passengers and we walked and walked until we found ourselves in the old town.

Here are the photos and the attractions we have seen and visited.

THE VIEW FROM TOOMPEA HILL

This is where I really wanted to go as the internet suggested that you can have the best view of the old town from up here. When we were there, it was past 10 AM and there were so many people in there. Most of them are group tourists. We stayed for a while, took a few photos and then continued walking.

We managed to walk around for 3 hours until we got back to the pier. We walked so much and decided it’s time to go back and rest. We didn’t visit malls or any markets. However, I would love to do so on our next trip to Tallinn. It was a short and quick trip. We had so much fun. It was our first time and it was such a great experience. I’m hoping to go back there again with friends.
