HELSINKI TRIP, MEETING WITH FRIENDS

One of my New Year’s resolution this year is to being able to meet with my friends often. To spend time with them, hang out, have fun and for all the kids to meet and spend time as well. This month January, I am lucky to meet with them twice. First was when we had our late Christmas party which we held at my place. And second was this past weekend. It was a birthday party and aside from good food, we got to spend quality time together which was exactly what I needed right now. To focus on the present and not to worry about work, money or the future for instance.

The original plan was to attend the Sinulog festival which will be happening for the first time in Helsinki, Finland. It was my idea. I haven’t been to any church activities since I arrived in Finland six years ago, and I thought it would be nice to attend such an exciting event. Unfortunately, the event what we want to watch was quite late. It starts at 5pm and it was too late for us to stay in the city as we need to be home by 6pm. So it was a changed of plan. We didn’t went to the Sinulog festival.

We arrived in Helsinki past 1pm. We took the train and went straight to Vantaa where my friend lives. There we ate good food and yummy cakes. I took few pictures of that day.

In the evening, we went to Megazone. We did shooting range (not sure what its called :)). I know it was for kids activities, but I had fun, however. It was fun shooting with the kids I think the age of 10 and under. The three of us were the only adults hahhaa. Well, it was fun to act like a kid in that moment. Hiding, trying not to get killed and then laughed when someone shoot me. Well, in the end, my score wasn’t so bad. When we got home, we took sauna and then went to sleep.

On Sunday morning, we supposed to attend the Sinulog festival, but we all agreed not to go since the schedule was very late. We went to watch Salibandy instead. We spent hours there. The kids seems happy running around, although I knew Yanna was very tired and wanted to go home already to sleep. She survived however until we got home.

And then it was time to go home. We grabbed our lunch at SFC before heading to the bus station and went home. By the way, I’ve been meaning to eat at SFC restaurant for so long time now. I’m glad we finally did. I love their chicken. It’s almost like KFC. I wish there is KFC in Finland, unfortunately they don’t.

We had a great weekend. Looking forward to have more adventures with friends. And hopefully the weather will get warmer. It’s much easier to travel without thick jackets on. :)
