Growing up spring rolls or lumpia is one of my favorite food. This food is famous in the Philippines and is always present on every occasion. I love it very much. Now that I am far away from home I sometimes miss this kind of food. Thankfully, there’s always an Asian store where you can buy the ingredients anytime you want to cook Filipino food. Well, most of the ingredients I can buy in a local supermarket except for the spring rolls wrapper.
Spring Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
400g ground meat
Spring roll wrappers
3 medium-size carrots, cut into small pieces
1/2 cabbage, sliced into small pieces
1 red onion, cut into small pieces
Spring onions, cut into small pieces
2 eggs
2 tablespoon soy sauce or more
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
black pepper
2 cups vegetable oil or any cooking oil for deep frying
Procedure:
1. In a large bowl combine sliced carrots, sliced cabbage, onions, spring onions, soy sauce, garlic, and egg.
2. Beat another egg and set aside. Use this to seal the spring roll wrappers.
3. To make the lumpia:
Simply place your spring roll wrapper on a clean surface or a plate.
Scoop the mixture to the wrapper and roll.
Sealed/close the wrapper at the end with beaten egg just put a little amount. (see photo)
Repeat until everything is done.
4. Heat the oil in a cooking pan.
5. Deep fry the spring rolls until the color turns to a golden brown.
6. Remove from cooking pan and place in a plate lined with paper towels (to absorb the oil).
7. Serve with any kind of sauce you like.
