Yesterday was Midsummer day here in Finland, also known as the St. John’s day. The summer solstice, the beginning of summer. It’s a big celebration here in Finland and other Scandinavian countries. Normally, on Friday night we went to Salttis near the beach to celebrate Midsummer with the locals where there are a bonfire and a short program. This year, we didn’t go, first because hubby has worked, and second, it was very cold and was raining.
On Saturday, another cold and rainy day, we checked out Salttis again. There were few people and not as crowded as normal Midsummer day. We decided to have a short road trip instead and went to Pernaja. It was my request. I’d love to see the church and took a few photos. We checked out the Pernaja church, stayed there for few minutes. After that, we checked a few nice houses around the area. There are many nice big houses there that I really like. Hubby and I have a dream house and every now and then we checked a few on sale houses (just for fun). After that, we went to Valko to check a few more houses and went home. We enjoyed the green scenery on our way home. I love green fields, meadows and open spaces and tall green trees.
At home, we watched a football game (FIFA) with some popcorn.
That’s how we celebrated Midsummer Day. How did you celebrate Midsummer day?
