Ways To Enjoy The Winter In Finland + Fresh Face Friday Blog Hop

As we all know Finland is a very cold country. We have winter at least three months or more. But no matter how cold it is during wintertime, Finnish people loved it and are able to survive it as it is already part of their lives. There are so many ways to enjoy the winter in Finland. As an expat and been living here for three years now, I have several activities that I love the most doing during wintertime. Here are the few.

1. Sauna:

Well, in Finland you can go to sauna in any days you want, in whatever season, but the best time to go to sauna is of course during winter time when the temperature drops to negative degrees and can be very, very cold. Almost all household in Finland have their own sauna room. There is no exception and its the rule, everyone should be naked while in sauna. Its just the way how we enjoyed it. Just sit there, relax, and enjoy while making your body sweat. Perfect to detox and cleanse. Normally we go to sauna  every weekends. Its like part of the weekly activities already. I love sauna so much. My first time was a funny experience but now that I am used to it, I honestly loved it so much and always looking forward to go there every Friday night.

2. Snow Sledding:

If you have kids or little children, snow sledding is one of the best activities to enjoy the snow. Just go to the nearest hill with your sleds and you are ready to enjoy the snow and have so much fun. Sledding is always part of enjoying the winter season. Its also a great family activities. My daughter loves sledding and always get excited every time. I have blogged about our family snow sledding experiences here and here.

3. Walking:
Walking outside is one of the best ways to enjoy the cold winter in Finland. Just make sure to wear the right amount of clothing to keep you warm while outside. I love walking because its not just a form of exercise its also good for the health as you breath fresh air. Sometimes instead of a stroller, we used a sled for our daughter to sit there while we are walking. Laziness no more, go out for a walk and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Sure there are many things to do in wintertime here in Finland. Snow sledding, walking and sauna are my three favorites. I will share more next time.
