Travel Diaries: Tiananmen Square, Beijing

A continuation of my travel diaries in Beijing, China. I am sad we were not able to explore Beijing just like we have planned. I was very excited before the trip, writing down all the places to visit, what to do, when and how. Everything was a disaster when we were there. We felt unwelcome and we were disappointed with how our short trip ended. We were refused to check-in the hotel we booked months before, we cannot speak mandarin and we cannot understand their language, and no one can give us the correct direction of where to go. Even hard to find the restaurant to eat. But despite all, we’re glad we at least visited the country. Every country is different, with different people and cultures. That is why its called exploring, we explore the county and its culture, right?

Everything we planned didn’t work out. Well, at least we got to see two different tourist places. So I think it wasn’t that bad at all. We went to Tiananmen square and here are the photos I took. It was so hot at that time and so many people. It was a long walk, but it’s worth it. We were there for a couple of minutes, just wandering around, observed the people, vehicles pass by, took photos and videos. There are so many people at that time, and most are Chinese. They all have a tour guide, and we didn’t.

I would love to come back there again, someday. Not via connecting flights, but a real vacation. The great wall of China is something I really want to visit someday. I know they have a few other tourists attraction, and I wanted to visit them too. Our last vacation was too short as it was only because of our plane stop Finland to the Philippines vice versa, and we thought we could explore Beijing during that long hours stop, but time didn’t match with the tour schedules. So I hope someday we can make it real. Stay there for a few days, explore the city, eat yummy food, visit nice places, and have fun. Here’s hoping for that!
